Outdoor Activities

Our Student Interns have developed a list of things to do in Western New York, from places to see on campus, to the surrounding scenic area, and for day trips to Rochester and Buffalo. You never need to be bored! Take a walk-about, catch a bus to Letchworth, or grab a friend with a car and explore all that the region has to offer.

Social Norms Media Campaign

Our Strategic Planning Work Group is working with Causewave to develop a multi-media campaign targeting normative beliefs about underage and high-risk drinking and other substance misuse. The goal of a Social Norms campaign is to provide more accurate information about drinking and drug use and attitudes toward it, to counter common beliefs about its popularity.

Campus and Community Events

Our College & Community Connections Work Group is undertaking a number of college and community support initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic:

  • Welcoming students back to the community when they return, virtually or in-person,

  • Building support for local businesses,

  • Supporting volunteer activities and events to build relationships between off-campus students and their neighbors,

  • Planning a Virtual Village Hall event with a speaker and topic for discussion.

Recruitment and Education

Our Capacity Building Work Group is assembling promotional and educational materials to be shared with community members through social and print media.

Data Analysis & Sharing

Our Assessment Work Group has analyzed and organized essential information from a recent comprehensive student survey and other data sources such as focus groups, key informant interviews and archival data (such as emergency responder reports). This data will inform our Social Norms campaign, our recruitment and education efforts, and other strategic planning.

Safe Party Training

Our AOD Student Interns developed a training that combines information about alcohol and other drugs with recommendations on how to reduce the risk of serious consequences when hosting a party. The Interns provide the training to our Greek organizations and other off-campus students. They also provide Narcan (Opiate overdose prevention) training.
